Dr. Narimane Hadj-Hamou

Founder and CEO, Center for Learning Innovations and Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS)

Educated in the USA, with a PhD in Software Engineering and a Master in Computer Science; Dr. Narimane is the founder and current the CEO of the Center of Learning Innovations and Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS); a regional Center with a unique vision established to support the healthy growth and development of higher education in the Arab region and beyond through the provision of capacity building opportunities, the transfer of “know-how”, and the continuous injection of new thinking within universities and colleges to support academic excellence. Prior to establishing CLICKS, she was the Assistant Chancellor for Learning and Academic Development (Provost) at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e- University (HBMeU) known today as the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, in Dubai, UAE where she has established and led the academic, research and eLearning vision of the first online University to be recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE. In her role as the Assistant Chancellor for Learning and Academic Development, she has been involved with the establishment of new schools, the development of the institution’s research strategy and agenda; leading the design, development and accreditation of several programs including doctoral degrees. She has also been involved with the internationalization agenda of the university and with establishing international links with leading universities and organizations globally. At the age of just 29 she was appointed for the first time as a Dean.

Dr. Hadj-Hamou was also Founder of several regional initiatives; she has established the Middle East eLearning Association (MEeA) and was elected as its first President.

MEeA is considered one of the first Arab regional non-for profit associations addressing eLearning in the North African and Middle Eastern area. She has also led in 2013 the formation of the MENA Association of University Presidents in partnership with the Association of Arab Universities as an independent, non-political, non- for profit, professional and academic regional association of chief executive officers from Higher Education Institutions within the Middle East and Northern African region.

Dr. Hadj-Hamou expertise and professional experience span over a range of areas that involve: technology integration and e-learning in higher education; quality, accreditation and institutional excellence, teaching and learning and leadership development and governance for higher education.

She has  been the driving force in the promotion of online education and blended learning in the Region by leading many pioneering projects and initiatives including creating awareness and education on eLearning, encouraging and engaging in regional and international research community in the field, developing strategies and frameworks for implementing online education and establishing associations and networking organizations that are dedicated to the promotion of open, innovative and flexible education and promote the principles of partnerships, knowledge transfer and sharing best practice thinking.

Dr. Narimane has special research interest focuses around strategies development and deployment for introducing innovative teaching and learning and in technology integration with its various  forms including e-learning, blended learning, and technology enhanced learning.

She has over the years delivered several local, regional and international keynote addresses; conducted numerous workshops and led several roundtables and panel discussions in many countries including Hungary, Germany, Lebanon, Malaysia, France, the UK, Qatar, Sudan, Italy, China, the UAE among many others.  She has been active in publishing articles, book chapters, case studies, and has acted as the founder and editor to the International Journal of Excellence in eLearning for several years.

Dr. Narimane is also a consultant for UNESCO and engages frequently with various regional UNESCO offices in supporting the development of quality higher education and the embracement of new forms of learning such as e-learning. She was previously involved with the European Training Foundation to do support capacity building in the Mediterranean countries in the area of technology integration. In addition she frequently acts as an external reviewer for accreditation agencies in the region and provides advice on QA related matters.

Today, Dr. Narimane is pursuing her passion for advocating excellence and innovative thinking in higher education by leading the Center for Learning Innovations and Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS) as a partner for learning institutions that support the development of academic excellence, innovative thinking, capacity building and knowledge solutions transfer for the 21st century. As part of her work at the Center, she has engaged in developing strategies, frameworks, blueprints and internal systems related to quality, governance and technology integration in a number of institutions from across the GCC countries and beyond. The Center has also established and trained in less than four years of establishment over 5000 academic leaders including university presidents, faculty members and staff representing more than 60 institutions spanning across 17 countries and engages in total with over 200 HEIs and organizations.

Dr. Hadj-Hamou was in 2015 recognized by Forbes Magazine for her contribution to education and was listed among the 200 most powerful Arab Women. In 2016 she has been awarded the Arab Woman Awards for the Education category. She is recognized as a leader in her field and known to be an inspiring, visionary, motivating, active and hard –working leader who has demonstrated throughout the years and at a very young age strong leadership skills and a unique dedication and commitment to supporting higher education advancement in our region.
