The Fashion industry requires dedicated individuals that possess a variety of managerial skills to administer a business from a start-up stage to a fully developed business model. In this program, students obtain an understanding of textiles, garment construction, designing, quality control, and apparel merchandising in addition to learning how to apply marketing, accounting, financial and other business concepts necessary for the decision-making they will encounter in their future careers.
The 126 credit curriculum is designed to equip students with a broad-based exposure to all aspects of Fashion Business Management while focusing on specific concentration areas for rewarding careers in fashion businesses and industries. The diverse range of courses offered in the program introduces students to a wide range of expertise and knowledge in General Education, Fashion Business Management functional areas and Fashion Business Management electives.
Students take 33 credits in General Education courses for Personal & Professional development. Competence in Fashion Business Management is achieved through the study of 54 credit core courses, and competence in a specific business area is achieved through the study of 21 credit concentration courses. The 15 credit elective courses and 3 credits for internship are designed to broaden students’ knowledge and perspective of Fashion Business Management education beyond their field of concentration.
The purpose of the concentration is to provide the requirements of the fashion industry for specialized professionals who still have an overall vision and are able to interact and communicate clearly. The concentration courses are aimed at individuals wanting to develop entrepreneurial careers and/or for those that would like to work in the immense non-designer categories within the fashion trade. CFD offers two concentration tracks students can choose from. An offering of concentrations will be initiated in a gradual manner. Two Concentrations will be offered on cohort basis (the choice of a majority of students). The students will be required to choose the area of concentration in the 4th semester.
Utilize advanced business and design software for fashion business management.
Construct visual merchandising as a communication tool to market merchandise to the consumer.
Apply the elements of business management including planning, operations and brand representation for fashion industry.
Demonstrate professional communication skills for fashion marketing and management in context to industry standards.
Analyse consumer behaviour utilizing target markets and individual variables to influence the buyer decision process.
Evaluate product trends and forecasting to create a brand image with sustainable and innovative practices for leadership in global fashion industry
The Bachelor program in Fashion Business Management is aimed to incorporate a curriculum that will develop critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and leadership skills in learners to apply design thinking to solve complex problems in the dynamic global fashion industry.
The mission of the Fashion Business Management Bachelor Degree is to encompass a multifaceted approach to shape the professionals that will shape the Fashion Industry tomorrow both in the Industry and in its deeper cultural side.
