Learning Outcomes:

During this intensive practical course, students will

  • Create a mood board for abaya designs
  • Learn the fundamentals of fashion drawing on a base including draping, ruffles, and volumes
  • Sketch 4-6 abaya designs in color inspired from their mood board
  • Take measurements and create a personal abaya pattern
  • Visit the fabric market to select fabric with the guidance of the instructor
  • Stitch one complete abaya

Supplies:

Students are requested to bring:

  • Colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Gouache colors and brushes
  • A4 sketch book with white pages (preferable with spiral binding)

About the Instructor - Ms. Amira Al Mashjari

A fashion designer based in Dubai-UAE, she obtained a degree in fashion design and pattern making from the French University ESMOD.

Through out her studies she participated in several fashion shows and exhibitions, and interviewed on TV and magazines.

She is a conceptual fashion designer who seeks to explore the unknown, achieve the unexpected, challenge the existing and create the extraordinary.

Amira was awarded in 2014 as the best fashion creator.

In 2015 she was also awarded as "The most innovative designer" middle east fashion, and best accessories designer Fashion victims award.

  • Cancellations are accepted in writing up to 15 business days prior to the scheduled course date. After that date, the full course fee is payable.
  • If you cannot attend the scheduled course, we would welcome a substitute participant in writing up to 5 business days prior to the scheduled course date.
